During late winter and early summer of every year
Chiang Mai has haze problem
By the severity tends to increase every year
Where are these haze come from?
Why this problem happens in this time of year?
Collecting forest products?
Monoculture, farm crops, or corn crops?
Construction, industry, or vehicles?
As Chiang Mai is surrounded by mountains.
During December and early April of every year,
The high air pressure from China will spread over the Northern part of Thailand
Thus, a subsidence inversion take place and the pollution is trapped in the city.
As if there is a gigantic glass covers up the city,
Thus, the pollution is circulated in the city of Chiang Mai for a long time.
From the survey, there are evidences that
if excluding the haze from the neighbour countries,
The haze problem in Chiang Mai occurs from the following;
30--50% comes from diesel engine, dust from construction, and household industry
50--70% causes from wildfire, burning in the open air area, and burning for the agriculture
How can we take part to solve this problem?
Government sector decentralizes for people to participate in the management
Private sector is responsible for the business that effect to the environment
People look at their own behaviour whether if they cause environmental problem or not.
Haze problem tends to increase continuously, if we solve the problem only at the time of facing it, we will face it in every year.
