Okay I have some frequently asked questions to answer. The first question is... my hair
grows half an inch per month approximately, I didn't count um the amount of time that
it took for my hair to get to this length it just accumulates I have small trims um
a lot of my length retention is on YouTube um I haven't had any hair cuts or anything
like that so my videos all the way through from the beginning all the way through show
how my hair has gained length. Will I ever straighten my hair? The answer is no. I find
straight hair naturally straight hair to be beautiful and curly hair that has been straightened
I find that.. to.. that can look beautiful as well um I personally don't have interest
for myself um to straighten my hair. Just barely over five three so I am pretty much
five three. The answer is no. I am growing my hair to..as long as it will grow so however
long that is I am going to allow it to grow and then I am going to maintain it at its
maximum length. I will not um I do think that layers look nice on others and I can admire
that it looks beautiful on others um but I also like hair that does not have layers and
for me um, I do not want layers and so that's why I don't have them. Have I ever used henna?
No, and I have no plans on using henna. I do not use heat and from what I understand
it works well for others and that's great and I celebrate that other things that are
different from what I do work for others but there are things that I prefer for myself
and that work best for me and that is not using heat. So I do not use heat. None of
the hair on my head has ever had heat applied to it and it's going to stay that way. Well
I've added an additional routine so I still set my hair with leave in conditioner and
a natural styling gel, put my hair in braids take my hair out and then use shea butter
and oils in my hair and then, I also have a different um styling method and that is,
instead of the gel on top of the leave in conditioner, I am putting shea butter and
oils on my hair and then I am braiding my hair up and then preferably usually what I
will do is then when my hair is fifty percent dry I'll take the braids out, the six braids,
usually it is about six to eight braids out and then I'll coat them, I'll add more of
the shea butter mixture, braid my hair up, wait for my hair to dry, then take it out.
Um, both of those methods one is using gel as a styler, one is using a shea butter mixture
as a styler. In both situations, once my hair is dry, and the braids are taken..are out
of my hair, I use um, shea butter mixture um to put in my hair daily, like I put a coat
of that in my hair daily, so both of them have that in common and then both have the
braiding in common, both have leave in conditioner in common. Okay, and then the next question
is..I comb my hair when I am detangling it. Often times in the shower with conditioner,
detangling right before I shampoo my hair um I also will sometimes comb my hair when
it's dry, like right now, you know, I would comb it and then the next day or that same
day or the next day or the day after I would then wash my hair and uh I find that I'm now
able to do that I used to use a silicone based product that used to cause my hair to be brittle
and when I would comb my hair dry, and I wasn't supplementing that silicone styler with natural
oils, like I wasn't supp...putting it in my hair throughout the week, natural oils in
my hair throughout the week so my hair would be brittle from the silicone based product
and when I would comb my hair out dry I would have breakage, lots of little pieces of hair
breaking, my ends would break all of the time and since I stopped using silicone, heavy
silicone, because I used to use a lot it and it was the main product that I used to put
in my hair, um, since I..combination of not using that product and also adding um, natural
oils, I've completely.. I am now able to comfortably and carefully and safely um detangle and comb
my hair dry without breakage. I am now also combing my hair out dry and one of the reasons
why I am also in addition to combing my hair out wet, combing my hair out dry is because
I've been trying some up-dos on combed out hair and I've also been turning my hair routine
into two smaller sessions so instead of having to detangle, shampoo, condition, apply products,
and braid my hair all back to back, I can now detangle my hair and then if I want to
wait the next day or later in the day, the day after the next day, I can do that and
so I have two smaller sessions. It's convenience and also so that I can be trying some up-dos
on combed out hair.
