Speaker 1: What's your name, where are you from and what do you do?
Jonathan: My name is Jonathan Labbe. I'm a student at Temple University and I'm from
right outside of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. Speaker 1: Why did you choose A Broader View
to volunteer? Jonathan: We just stumbled on it on the website.
It was very easy to work with and they had the opportunity I was looking for.
Speaker 1: How was the experience of volunteering in Cusco, Peru been so far?
Jonathan: It has been great. Cusco, Peru is a great city. It has a lot of culture. It
has a lot of history and also it has a lot of needs so everything. It's just ... it's
been great. Speaker 1: What has been the best part of
the program? Jonathan: The best part of the program for
me has been being able to work with children and at the hospital, at the clinic and in
the afternoon traveling with doctors has been very, very great for me.
Speaker 1: How was your host family, food and accommodation?
Jonathan: The host family was great, very loving. It took us just ... we weren't strangers.
They just took like any other. The food has been great. They cook amazing. It was just
really good food, and the house, it's just perfect. It gets a little cold at night but
everything else is good. Speaker 1: How was your experience with the
US staff office in Cusco, Peru [inaudible 0:01:47]?
Jonathan: The US staff [inaudible 0:01:50] every time I had a question that was [inaudible
0:01:58] and Cusco, Peru has been great. The coordinator is great. She's always ... we
can tell them everything, making sure you have everything. You come to a new culture
but you don't have any trouble because everyone works together to give you the best time.
Speaker 1: What can other volunteers bring while volunteering in Cusco, Peru?
Jonathan: I would say if you come in cold season, bring warm clothes for yourself and
for donation, kid supply including books, pencil. If you're going to be working at clinic,
anything for the medical that they could use at the hospital there. They seem like they're
always running low on stuff. Anything would be appreciated even toothpaste, toothbrushes
just anything that they ... any person can ...
Speaker 1: Will you recommend A Broader View to other volunteers?
Jonathan: Absolutely. I would recommend it because it gives you the opportunity to go
pretty much anywhere because they're everywhere. They way they work it makes it very safe for
the person who wants to volunteer and also gives you the chance to get ... immerse on
the culture. Speaker 1: Thank you for volunteering with
us.
