You know you should back up your computers' data, but chances are you don't
Why not? Well, most people view backing up as a chore that can drag on for hours
tying up their computer until the job is done.
Hi. I'm Michael Hall and I've got good news.
See, there's a simple way to back up your precious documents, photos, videos, music
and other files. And once you set it up you won't have to lift a finger to protect
your data from loss, theft or mechanical failure.
The answer is network attached storage, or NAS. A NAS box contains one or
more hard drives that connect your network router through an ethernet
cable. In a traditional backup scenario, you have to connect the computer directly to
a hard drive or disc writer to transfer the data. With NAS
every computer on the network can copy files to the same storage device
wirelessly. The computer is free to roam and you don't have to worry about
plugging or unplugging drives.
Better yet, network attached storage makes backing up automatic.
The NAS box is always on so you can schedule backups for times when you
aren't using your computer; typically while you're asleep. The best units come
with backup software you can install on multiple computers. Just set the time you
want your backups to occur. That's all there is to it. You never have to think
about backing up your computer again.
A NAS box can provide several terabytes of capacity so you're not likely to run
out of space even if you're backing up several PCs.
Whether you have a couple of computers or a growing business, network attached
storage can keep your data safe and sound and you never have to think about
it again.
I'm Michael Hall.
Thanks for watching.
