This video provides an overview of the IBM Support Portal,
a unified, centralized view of all technical support tools and information
for IBM systems, software, and services worldwide.
The IBM Support Portal is your gateway to all of your technical support resources.
You can find the Support Portal at: support.ibm.com
From here you can choose a product and navigate to its support page,
share a list of your recently viewed product pages,
use search to find information,
access common support links,
and translate the page.
Although you can use the portal anonymously,
sign in to access your support contracts,
open and manage service requests,
manage My Notifications, download fixes,
and access entitled content.
The Common support links module provides links for completing common support activities,
such as visiting the Service Request and Electronic Service Call home pages,
reviewing security bulletins, managing support registrations,
accessing the IBM mobile site, viewing the directory of worldwide contacts,
getting help with Support Portal, providing feedback to the Support Portal,
and participating in the Support Portal forum.
IBM reviews all customer feedback.
You can contact the help desk through the Feedback page…
… or open the Electronic Support forum and join community discussions about the Support Portal,
and how IBM can improve your online support experience.
Support Portal provides a Current site availability indicator.
Point to the link for brief status, or click it for details.
To choose a product and navigate to its support page, start typing the product name.
Then, select the product in the list.
If you select a product from the recently viewed products list,
Support Portal remembers the version and operating system that you selected.
If you want to change or clear this information, select the product from the all products list.
You can optionally select a version and operating system,
which will reduce the amount of information that Support Portal retrieves.
Support Portal provides other opportunities to filter on version.
You can also browse for a product …
… click the arrow to see up to 20 recent products …
… or select a product based on support information that IBM has about you.
To research a specific situation or error code,
enter your search terms, and select the current product check box.
The Downloads module provides links to fix packs, software trials,
firmware, device drivers, and other downloads for your product.
Many products have links to recommended fixes as well.
Click Downloads (fixes & PTFs) to go directly to Fix Central.
Use the filters to select the appropriate fix.
The Product support content module includes links to product documentation,
flashes and alerts, and troubleshooting documentation.
The All product support content link is a great starting point for browsing and filtering.
Use the filtering options on an expanded list page to focus in on the exact content you need.
The Featured links module presents links to resources that are especially useful for the selected product.
Some product teams offer webcasts to help you use and support the product.
Support Portal makes it easy to find scheduled webcasts,
and to access recordings of previous webcasts.
The Tools and resources module provides links that are appropriate for your product.
You can open a service request,
review the product support lifecycle for software products,
download specific product tools and utilities, manage or subscribe to support notifications,
access training, engage the Support Portal Adviser,
and view live social media feeds.
Subscribing to support notifications is easy, and it is a great way to stay informed about a product.
Subscribers have direct access to current and past notifications.
The Support Portal presents resources that are most appropriate for the selected product.
For example, if you select a hardware device, you can look up warranty information,
or chat with technical support.
From news to downloads, to technotes to documentation, to service requests and more,
the IBM Support Portal has everything you need in one place.
