(How you doing?) Good man. I'm just kinda scared now that you got this little weapon up here.
Yea, I got it from Forrest.
What's going on sir? (How you doing?) Life is good, how was Coachella for you?
It was great man, can't wait to go back.
you know?
Actually, I don't know if I'll wait to go back. One time's good. It was pretty hardcore
that two-day period.
I'm very sure. What was your best moment
being there this year, whether it's you performing or watching somebody else? Highlight of the show for you.
I was on, I was. I took a lot mushrooms and I only ended up watching postal service.
and then I tried watching The XX and I didn't understand what was going on at all,
and I remember back stage, we had, I was laying on the ground trying to watch the show
and then all these people who were actually XX fans were like super offended by me
because I was just like, I just kept saying like
to the mc from Major Lazer, go jump on stage they get crazy do something.
cause it was like really getting weird to me, the show but
I saw Solange Knowles she was there dancing on stage with him. I didn't know that was going on
I just couldn't, nothing made sense to me
so I just I went back stage. So I left I just left
Then Snoops project came out, incredible. I was actually listening to it even the whole
documentary, I was just telling Julie to like I thought I thought it was going to be Snoop going to Jamaica and doing what Snoop does
and you know there is that in there but it really goes deep into his life story and you know after
watching the movie like and listening to the music after that I felt so connected to it
and then I went back and started listening to all the old Major Lazer stuff
a lot more reggae stuff it really had an effect on me
I think a lot of people are kind of cynical about the project off the back but I think if you watch the film it makes so much sense
because it becomes so real like what he was doing? Why he was making the music? and
to be honest he is so charismatic you would be surprised its the first time Snoops in a film
because he's so funny and its got. Who else is in the film?
uhm... Daz? Daz.
How funny is he? Daz is the best. He's like the funniest dude, He was so high on the mountain he just couldn't get up
he was like
First off wherever you guys made it. I saw the studios you guys were in. it liked overlooked
like waterfalls and jungles. We worked in kingston at Bob Marley's studio tough calling
then they just went off into the woods with Rastas for like days
I dont know what they were doing. Then we ended up at this studio up in north called Geejam
which is uhm...
a really nice full service studio, Amy Winehouse was working on her record before
she passed away
last year no doubt did hella good then it's like
it's a famous studio and its a beautiful place the country side of Jamaica
so a lot of people have work there. Its a great project though
and how did you get connected with Snoop? What made that whole idea for you
to come in and do that whole lay out of Jamaica with him and documentary
I knew Ted and the whole stampede crew because, I did That Tree for the last album
With Kid Cudi and Snoop Dogg
they just hit me up for some records sometimes
they wanted to do a reggae project, Snoops like yo I want to do reggae music
Just cause I don't want to do rap right now i'm over it uh... I want to try something different are some different any
Ted doesn't even know what I do really, he was like I dig this one white guy
reggae, lets call him over
so i came over and I only knew Pon De Floor, but I played them get free as a demo
like yo this is what we want to do. We want to do like real reggae
I was surprised because I just finished that record and no one
it was kind of a weird sound for our project
and it just grew from that one song, we just wrote like seventeen records
we got. One record I didn't write was with Akon thats a really dope record too
and umm... yeah I hope you guys check it out I'm really proud of the whole album, Yeah seriously watch the documentary
and listen to both albums then after, but watch the documentary first before you listen to Snoops album
If you watch the film you will seriously, it makes the album make so much sense
you know
if you watch the film so...
I suggest checking it out. Absolutely. Its really funny its good its a
good film
and you'll see Daz. Yeah.
Okay and selfishly I gotta ask you because
you get credit you were the first person to turn me on to Rye which is one
of my absolute favorite CDs
uh... it's given that everybody in this room already has the new major lazer record
what else is one thing they need to get?
Umm....
I dont know man I guess...
you got to buy that Riff Raff album when that comes out yes, yes he's a Riff Raff
supporter full on and uh... shout out to Jody high roller, yeah Jody high roller. You gotta have him in.
yeah we do, it would be the funniest thing. with some insurance and liability
one of my favorite things that I have ever heard on the radio is a conversation you riffraff and
Skrillex had about the furniture in your houses that was great.
Yea not only does he freestyle rap, he freestyles conversations and free styles everything
he freestyles life. Yeah he freestyles his life so thats amazing. Full support for him
Awesome
are you guys ready to have some fun? Alright everybody get up.
