Today we're going to be making not-so-boring boiled potatoes
something that you can fix in a big hurry you can make a really good side dish
for your family
you want to begin with red or yellow
one of the waxy varieties of potatoes.
these are different from what we call russet potatoes
in that russets tend to be a little more or merely and dry when cooked
whereas these are waxy and tend to hold their shape a little bit better
always wash your potatoes first even if you're not going to peel it
and if there is a blemish or an eye that's beginning to grow
cut those off. Then you're going to take your potato and cut it
into inch, inch and a half pieces. Cook a potato per person
and you're gonna want to boil those until they are fork-tender
around 10 minutes. Once the potatoes have boiled
pour them through a colander pouring away from you so the steam does not burn
then place your boil potatoes in a bowl and gently toss them with about
a teaspoon a olive oil canola oil
peanut oil you can even use some the sesame oils anything that's going to give it
a little bit a flavor
you could then add butter, salt, pepper,
chives, or roasted garlic
would also be a nice addition. and then to serve, to make it a little more
eye appealing, you can sprinkle it with a few freshly chopped chives
they give it a nice very mild onion flavor
and when you serve boil potatoes as a side dish, you're serving
a high vitamin C, vitamin B, fairly high fiber
good for you, very filling side dish
