I work for the CBC, which is the Canadian Broadcast Corporation. I work in the radio
archives and I catalogue radio broadcasts. So I wanted to know how people working in
the profession, cataloguers, what is their experience of aboutness determination? And
that's were we try to figure out what the resource that we are looking at is about.
So my title is The Life-World In the Librart's Backroom: A hermeneutic phenomenological pilot
study, fancy word for interpretive, interested in life experience. What do I make of this?
The key question is what is it like and what is the essence of the experience that is what
makes it what it is. So I recorded a semi-structured, in-depth interview with one cataloger. What
I determinded was that aboutness determination involves a high level of judgement.
