Hello, my name is John Paul DeJoria.
Some of you know me as the co-founder as well as the chairman
of John Paul Mitchell Systems Paul Mitchell salon haircare products
worldwide
others know me from Patron spirits Patron tequila John Paul pet
and many other industries I may be involved in but I'm here for a different
reason
I'm here for Food For Africa.
Now I'm not here giving this presentation
to ask you for donations, I ask no one for donations
that's up to you. I'm only here to tell you why
I donated money to Food For Africa
when I went in to South Africa on one of my business with Nelson Mandela
I'd met Gordon through my buddy Allan. To say that uh all of us here the
workers like Lin, these are the people it on the ground over here
feeding these kids on a daily basis is doing everything we can Gordon
is an angel, he's a king. This mommy here is an angel, she takes care of one hundred fifty
kids and in too little rooms inside over there.
And I went and saw these children
that are orphans whose parents have died
or almost dead of ***.
God Bless ya
God bless ya, your what a hero you are what a hero
this is truly a hero of today and
may want to point out that if you see this dirt floor here this rockish dirt floor,
that's where the children sleep maybe on a mat maybe not. And of course Macy is
bedridden here
has a leaky roof so may have to get her a new roof too
few other good things. There are a lot of these little kids
and I found out that food for Africa with Gordon
came up with this maze, this food its' fortified with
all the vitamins they need so they would get at least a full nutritional
meal a day
this is just one of the group's about the 17,000 children that are fed
every single day. Many of these children here are orphans
some are not orphans but their parents are too weak to care for them they have
AIDS or other diseases
you know some little children with smaller children on their back or next
to their side
these little kids happen to be head of household
they run the household and there little children between the ages of 0
and 12 years old theres nutrition they could learn
so there's a way to get them started off in life
I believe the uniqueness in Food For Africa is that
we do everything ourselves we monitor the quality of the food that is
manufactured
and we supervise the food right to
the units that the children get fed in. Hopefully over he next three or four years
we can take the figure of seventeen thousand kids a day right up to over
30,000 kids today
you know it's amazing but I was told by Gordon that most these children before they
get here have one meal
every three days that one meal a day that we give them gives them all the
nutrition that they need to
have an opportunity go on in life and at least develop their brains and
that's what it's all about
humans good people helping other people she's taking care of 8 children
herself now, bedridden and taking care of 8 children.
This is very special.

my their parents died, so it was my pleasure to say hey,
they may be 9000, 12000 miles away
however somebody has to do it.
I may never see these children
other than the ones I've already seen,
we may not meet them all, but those children know there was somebody
from other countries in other places known as the Western world
that lent a helping hand in their time of need
that's why the John Paul Mitchell Systems
organization of schools, distributors
pitches in. That's why my family foundation
pitches in. Again, I only wanted to tell you why I did it
Peace, love and happiness to you
your family and the whole world family. Yeah!
