In 1976, I was sent to see the Shah in Iran. And at that time the Americans were trying
to persuade Iran to adopt nuclear power. The plan was that Iran would build 20 nuclear
power stations, using the Westinghouse Pressure Water Reactor, on condition that we adopted
the American reactor, which I didn’t want to do, and if so the Shah would then buy half
of our nuclear industry. Now you put that 1976 to where we are today and you realise
the utter hypocrisy, never believe a word you’re told by the nuclear industry.
