Hello today I'm going to show you how to make these awesome superhero capes for your Disney
cars. Here's one I made earlier for Mater. And here's a cape I made for Lightning McQueen
with a letter L on it. And today we're going to make one for Dinoco Lightning. You just
need a couple of things, scissors, a rubber band, and 2 different colors of felt. I have
red and white but any color is fine. And then some hot glue. The only materials I needed
to buy for this these is the felt and I got the felt at Walmart for a quarter a sheet.
The first thing you do, is you just measure out the fabric. I'm just eye-balling it. It's
super easy. Just match it up to the car and you just want the fabric to be just a little
wider than the car. So just cut it out, you can make the cape as long as you want. Just
line it up, you will start at the middle of Lightning's body, just right there and then
you will have it go just a little longer than his body. So what you want to do first, is
you want to put holes in the felt. So I'm just cutting holes on the side. All you need
to do is cut a little snippet out and this is where you are going to insert the rubber
band. See I have a little hole right here. And then just do another one on the other
side. It doesn't need to be perfect. There's the other hole and that's where we will put
the rubber band. Lets cut the rubber band. And it can be any size rubber band, it doesn't
matter. And just measure the rubber band around the car's body. You can trim it down later
too, so I'm just cutting it a little longer and then will trim it down when I'm done.
Just loop the rubber band through the hole of the felt. And I just knot it off, you can
glue it too, it doesn't matter. And just double knot the rubber band. Next, put the rubber
band through on the other side. And we'll need to measure how long we'll need the rubber
band to be. So we can just pick up the diecast car and do a size fitting for the car. Just
pull the rubber band tight. And that would size it. And then just do one knot with the
car inside the cape. And then you can take the car out to tie the other knot. Okay, very
tight. Now we can just trim off the edges here with the scissors. Okay now we need to
make the front a little more curvy, make it look more like a cape. Just trim the edges
to round them out. And then the bottom of the cape we will make some loops just to make
the cape look like it is rolling in the wind. And just round off the the corner. There we
go, we are now all done with the cutting. Now we just need to put the letter on the
cape. Now I'll just take the white felt and cut out the letter L which is really easy.
L is for Lightning McQueen of course. And just cut out the felt and once it's fully
cut out, you can fix it up a little bit. I'll just fix up this corner. Looks great! We are
just going to use the hot glue to glue on the letter L. Just be careful using the hot
glue gun, don't burn yourself. This is a great craft to do on a rainy day with your kids.
Okay, looking good. Just push it down and if there is any glue strings just pull them
off. Okay looking good. Hey Dinoco Lightning, I hope you are ready to fight some crime.
See it fits on very nicely. Weeee! He's flying. Time to go fight some lemons. Click here to
