Global IT Operator,
Investor,
Board Member,
providing advisor services to many startup companies in the IT space,
software, services,
hardware.
The IT segment is changing very rapidly.
So, IT executives,
investors,
employees –
they have to prepare for this big change.
That change is all happening around cloud technologies.
In the public cloud,
in the private cloud.
It’s impacting hardware, software
and services segments.

In software development
there’s a huge change
in a couple different dimensions.
One dimension is obviously moving from the infrastructure,
nitty gritty layers of software
to the user interface.
The beautification of the systems through
non-friction, user interfaces;
especially in these mobile environments
where we use a tablet or a smartphone.
So, there’s a huge trend in that space
requiring people not only with systems background,
but also with some artistic
and psychological background;
understanding what the users want and need.

The IT professionals need to expand their horizons
and deepen their knowledge in the spaces of social media,
virtualization,
mobility and
convergence.
Now, data centers are being virtualized,
and they are being mobilified and cloudified –
there’s a word for you!
It’s all through software.
In the past,
software engineers did not touch the data center directly like they are touching it
today.
That’s a big change in our industry
and it’s going to change the industry in the next 20 to 30 years.

Knowledge is power.
Obviously, education is critically important
and many education institutions are now actually providing
specifically classes and sessions around IT.
So, there’s another opportunity for those folks who are trying to
get into the space.
Because data is important
and software is the glue between the data and the infrastructure.
So, the engineers –
people who want to get into the space and become engineers –
need to understand those aspects
in a cohesive,
collective way.
