Hi I’m Daniel and I’m going to show you how to create and manage a database with WebFaction control panel.
First I’ll show you the steps to create a database and a user.
Then I’ll show you how to create a second user and give it access to the database.
To start, log into the WebFaction control panel.
Click “Databases” then “Databases.”
Click the “Add new database” button.
Give you database a name.
Select the type of database you want. You can choose MySQL or PostgreSQL.
If you have plans on more than one server, select a machine for the database.
Next create or choose a user to own the database.
In this demonstration, there aren’t any users yet, so create one.
Enter a username, then choose a strong password.
Click the “Add database” button to finish creating the database and user.
Now it’s time to create an additional user.
Click “Database Users.”
Click the “Add new user” button.
Enter a username.
Choose a database type and, if applicable, a machine.
Make sure they match the database type and machine of the databases to access.
Again, choose a strong password.
Click the “Add database user” button to finish creating the user.
The last step is to grant the new user access to the database created earlier.
Click on the user to modify.
Click the green plus (+) button.
In the menu, select the database.
Click the “Update database user” button to apply the change.
You’re finished. Now both users can access the database from the command line, in a script, or with your favorite application.
Thanks for watching.
