Getting to know the Edit Workspace
PaintShop(R) Pro has three workspaces:
Manage, to organize your photo library;
Adjust, for quick corrections;
and Edit, for the full set of editing tools.
The Edit workspace has...
several menus,
toolbars,
a Tool Options palette,
a Preview area,
a Learning Center,
a Materials palette,
a Layers palette,
and an Organizer palette.
The Navigation palette can be accessed,
and then hidden again.
The Learning Center can be invaluable.
It can be used in different ways.
Need to straighten an image?
Locate that task in the Learning Center,
and follow the instructions to complete the task.
Other uses for the Learning Center will be discussed later.
For now, I'll use Auto Hide to minimize it until I need it again.
I now have two images open.
I can view the images in different ways.
Tabbed Documents is the default view.
You can switch to the non-tabbed view in the Window menu.
Use one of the tile views to compare images.
PaintShop Pro has many professional-level tools.
It also has many helpful tools you might not expect.
Selective Focus is one of my favorites.
It is similar to the Depth of Field feature,
but it is optimized to create dramatic, tilt-shift style scenes.
Let's add some text to this image.
The Learning Center can help here too.
When you select a tool,
the Learning Center displays information about the selected tool.
As before, you can follow the instructions, or simply look for tips.
The Layers palette is also very useful,
to keep objects separate for editing.
Some layers are created automatically, such as text layers.
With Layer Styles,
I can add effects to objects on this layer only.
For additional assistance, click the Help menu, or...
explore the Corel Guide.
The next video will introduce the map features.
