My name is Chris Chase, I'm a contributor with Autos.ca,
and the car that we're driving
is the Toyota Prius C, which is competing
in the Small Car Under $21,000 category at Test Fest.
♪
To be very honest, the thing
that impresses me the most about the Prius
is the drive train, because it's so seamless
in the way it operates.
The gas engine turns on and off by itself
when it's not needed, or when it is needed--
but you don't really notice it if you're not paying attention.
So that is to me, what makes this car
really, really stand out beyond anything else.
All the electricity that is stored in the battery
is either generated when the engine is running--
which turns a generator to generate electricity--
or when you step on the brake pedal;
that generates electricity, too.
So there's no need to plug it in,
there's no need to do anything
but get home from work or wherever you were,
and park it in your garage
or your driveway, and you're all set.
Just, next morning, get in and go.
I do actually think the interior is nicely designed.
It's fairly intuitive, all the controls are easy to figure out,
and they're straightforward, too.
It's a very easy car to live with in just about every way.
