Sometimes, those closest to us see the potential in us before we do and with just a nudge,
can give us the courage to take that dare. Looking back, the greatest "dares" in my life
were the catalysts that propelled my personal and professional dreams into reality:
When my father dared me to sing in front of hundreds of people at the ripe old age of
9. I still remember that. Or when my high school art teacher dared me
to pursue a career in graphic design. Or when my husband dared me to reinvent myself
after Hurricane Katrina, and start my own business.
Or when my Quota mentors dared me to take on a leadership position
What will YOU accomplish when you dare to dream?
We may never meet the thousands of people whose lives we have touched in our own communities
and in places we most likely will never visit, but look around you. There is not a person
in this very room whose life you haven't touched -- just by being a Quotarian.
The Quota of tomorrow has to start right now... with all of us... working together... on real
world solutions. I dream of a Quota that speaks so loudly with
our actions, that people line up to sign up...beginning with a worldwide network of Quota Ambassadors...
on the ground, and on the web. I dream of a Quota in which members feel empowered
to step up, by giving them the tools they need... starting with an online leadership
training program called Quota University I dream of a Quota that encourages our children
to adopt a lifetime of service -- whatever their age... clubs that THEY build with their
own time and talents. I am not asking to be in charge. I am challenging
you to join me in making those dreams a reality for this organization. We have everything
we need. Our job is to figure out how to use our own resources to make the biggest impact.
I'm asking for a chance to motivate you, to inspire you... and hopefully -- to jumpstart
your own dreams. I'm ready to get to work.... And if you agree
that I am the right person for the job, I respectfully ask for your vote.
Thank you. And God Bless.
