Hello, my name is Kevin Miele.
I’m a Sales Engineer at SolarWinds. Today, I’ll be demonstrating how to install
the EMC® SMI-S provider which Storage Manager® requires for collection
for EMC CLARiiON,
Symmetrix and VMAX arrays. To get the Provider, go to: http://powerlink.emc.com/
and download the EMC SMI-S provider for the appropriate operating
system. To install it, simply double-click the installer.
You will choose all the defaults during this process.
Click Finish.
The next step is to configure each CLARiiON array within the SMI-S
provider.
You will need the unisphere or navisphere password, as well as, the IP
addresses for both SPA and SPB of each CLARiiON being
configured.
Open the command prompt
and navigate to C:\cd\Program Files\cd EMC\ECIM\ECOM\bin
C:\cd\Program Files\cd EMC\ECIM\ECOM\bin
as shown here.
Type: “testsmiprovider”
Press Enter.
Choose all the defaults until the menu system appears.
You’ll want to make note of the username and password.
This is what you'll be using in Storage Manager when adding the array.
Notice the username is “admin”
and the password is: “#1Password” with a capital P.
Make note of this.
Type: “addsys”.
Yes: “y”
Press enter.
Take the default of “1” or type “1” and press enter.
Type in the
IP address for SPA
and then press enter.
You can press your up arrow or simply type in
the IP address for SPB.
Press enter.
Take the default of “2” for IP or node name.
Again, take the default of “2”
Type in
the username for Navisphere or Unisphere
for this particular array.
Type in the password
and then press enter.
The array will now be discovered an added to the provider.
This may take a few minutes depending upon how large the array is.
As you can see, we have an output of “0” for success. You'll also notice that the
serial number for the array is also displayed here.
At this point, you would want a repeat the “adsys” process for each additional
array until all are added successfully.
Once you're done, you'll open Storage Manager’s interface
and add the storage array through the Getting Started page.
Thank you for watching this demonstration on how-to install and
configure EMC® SMI-S Provider
