we've got a pretty inspiring story for you today although there's a slight
chance that might make you feel like you ways to use to some extent
it's a story of ma sheik hike avalon
who enrolled in college at the age eighty
slightly out of the norm
uh... this was only the first of two associate of arts degree is
that he's worked on
um... the first was the east los angeles the community college that was the one
that he had internet age eight fishing graduated at page nine with a perfect
four point oh
grade point average
is around the time i guess most kids would be in fourth fifth grade something
like that so it's certainly stands out
uh... but not to and there he decided to enroll
right afterward and u_c_l_a_
so not too stupid community college is actually going to a major
uh... national school
and now ladies fourteen after just a few more years
he's poised to graduate
long before most people at u_c_l_a_
uh... and in the wake of this because he acknowledges that although he doesn't
like to be called a genius it's a pretty inspiring story
he has of written a book which was published out first in chinese and was
distributed throughout yes southeast asia
uh... and now it's being translated into english is actually doing the translated
itself which she says it's pretty difficult even for avoid genius like m
this is a pretty inspiring story
i mean there's been movies you know about people going to college really
early and in the house at all that
but actually does happen from time to time that you have these people who for
whatever reason are just way ahead of the curve
in terms of
both intelligence and probably work ethic i would imagine and that's the
part of store that i wanna focus on here he talks a little bit about why he
thinks he was able to do this when most most kids
you can go to college that early morning hunt and high school
he says that one of the biggest thing is uh... is attitude you know he approaches
everything with you know diehard
attitude he says that he was doing spire by one of his first professors
when he was at least l_a_ a community college although at this point he was
already in college so its
and not just that
uh... and secondly he says it's important that you cut out t_v_ he likes
to watch a little bit to cally jackie chan movies ambery limited to four hours
per week which is way lower than national average a particularly for
people around his cage motion also talks about some of the activities that he's
involved in
and he does soccer martial arts
uh... his argument to scuba dive
and that's one thing that i want to talk a bit about
uh... being
physically active is not just beneficial for your physical health has some of you
may know
it also has an effect on the brain that helps in concentration memory in no
danger of change things in integrated
and it's very important learning
night usually the research in this area has to do with the effects of exercise
on the elderly
and how we can help to stable
some of the degenerative diseases like
alzheimer's and things like that
uh... i don't know personally if it has a strong effect on people as young as
eight nine ten years old
somebody is interesting to speculate about that he is very physically active
in civic pictures isn't quite good shape
uh... end as sort of a side note it's interesting to think about you know
within the will be city epidemic that we have in our country's it
digitally among the youth
uh... it's interesting to wonder if that will have some sort of mental
repercussions as well he has a really inspiring quote actually he says i was
able to reach the stars but others can reach the milky way
probably not believes that he did but it's nice to know the things that others
can follow in his footsteps
we had to go back to the t_v_ saying and know that i personally while
i think that i've accomplished a good amount so far my life
uh... i'm certainly weighed down by the time i spend watching tv
playing games things like that
uh... and the problem really is that when you're working hard as he is
the temptation to go home and just watch house for purpose of the family guy
or arrested development something like that can be really strong and talks
about that all the time that you know sometimes it's one of edged out
but apparently if you can withstand the urge to do that
you can accomplish some pretty great things
uh... so he had just of sunlight story not major news but it's pretty inspiring
so what you guys to hear about that
among the here we've got a stink about this
uh... i'd doubt many of our viewers went to college so early but if you were head
of the curve if you know someone who was we'd love to hear about it
are you can comment on the low
and extortion
