Video #3: AdWords Campaign Experiments: Monitoring your experiment (Step 3)
In this video, we're going to discuss step three- Monitoring your experiment
In order to compare the results between your original setup and your experimental changes,
make sure that the experiment segmented view is active (If the keywords have control and
experiment segmented rows, you're fine.
Keep in mind that we recommend not making changes while the experiment is running. However,
if you do make changes, evaluate the metrics of the experiment from the time of the last
change rather than looking at the combined metrics.
How long you let your experiment run is up to you. However, we recommend an average of
2-4 weeks. More important than length of time is that the results are meaningful to you.
For example, let's say that even after 4 weeks of testing an experimental bid and monitoring
conversions, you got only 1 or 2 conversions. This may not be incredibly meaningful to you.
While monitoring your experiment, you'll notice that some of the differences between your
original and experimental setup are statistically significant. During demo: zoom in on some
of the arrows in the UI. This means that the differences are unlikely to have occurred
by chance. If a metric hasn't changed by a statistically significant amount, it's possible
that it wasn’t affected by your experimental change.
While the experiment will end automatically on the day you specified, you can end it at
any time. To do so:
1. Click the Settings tab in your campaign. 2. Under "Advanced settings", select Experiment.
3. Click the Stop Running Experiment button.
Note that when you end your experiment, your campaign will continue to run using your original
(pre-experimental) setup. If you want to stop the entire campaign from running, you can
pause your campaign at any time.
