Welcome to the Multimedia Briefing for Central Alabama. My name is Mark Rose and I will be
discussing the potential for severe weather Thursday night and Friday. A strong cold front
will enter western Tennessee and northern Mississippi sometime Thursday afternoon. A
line of strong to severe storms will be located just ahead of the front. As the pushes across
Alabama Thursday night, there is a chance for severe thunderstorms across a large portion
of central Alabama. It is too early to determine which areas have the highest chances for severe
weather, but there is enough shear and instability in the atmosphere for the possibility of tornadoes.
The front should be pushing out of southeast counties early Friday morning. The timing
and severe threats may change as we get closer to the event, so stay tuned for the latest
briefings. This concludes the Multimedia briefing.
