Hi. I'm Joshua Hatfield, Solutions Engineer at Rackspace. Today I am going to talk to
you about Joomla and uh...how I contribute to the community and a little more about it.
So, what is Joomla? Joomla itself is an open source CMS that got rebranded back in 2006.
It is a free solution, an application, or CMS (content management system) that is available
for download from Joomla.org. You can actually download Joomla, import it on your own servers
or shared hosting and get your website up and running in a matter of minutes for free.
Some of the other things we are going to talk about is who uses it. Well, currently we know
that enterprise applications are hosted on it as intranets, we know that mom and pop
coffee shops host it, personal websites, blogging websites, ecommerce sites, and more. In regards
to the numbers of Joomla, Joomla is currently on build uh...two point five right now. And,
we know that about forty million websites are being hosted on it. So, it has been accepted
and adopted by the community. The other good thing about Joomla is that they have thousands
and thousands of templates that are free. They have thousands and thousands of components
that you can download. All of these things put together allow you to secure, optimize,
enhance, and better experience your users' ability to browse your website. Again, my
name is Joshua Hatfield, Solutions Engineer at Rackspace and if you have any questions
about your hosting needs for Joomla or any other CMS, feel free to give us a call.
