Hi, this is Scott Urban. I'm a Business Development Manager with Cisco Systems,
here at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, at the Citrix Synergy show.
Today, we're showcasing solutions revolving around the next-generation workspace.
Tim, tell me a little bit about what we're showing here. -Scott, I'd be delighted to.
This is a demonstration of Cisco's "Bring Your Own Device to Work" solution space.
Very exciting here because we're demonstrating a complete solution for enterprises to be able to authenticate
users with devices that they might bring to work for themselves.
Those devices can be used for a whole variety of different functions within the business.
It can drive a tremendous amount of cost savings as well as new business value creation.
And this demonstration that we've got here; we're actually showing an environment that simulates a
healthcare institution. Showing the ability for doctors and nurses to bring devices like
iPads and smart phones to work, use those devices in the context of medical care,
to delivery services, and have that be secured effectively within the business.
So, we're showing access to different networks based on who users are, what types of devices they're bringing;
and a variety of other different contextual elements including what time it is, where they're located,
other functions like that. We're also showing the unification of management. So that networks
can be managed effectively together as a composite whether they're wired networks, wireless networks,
or VPN access networks, Cisco has a complete solution for both.
-Fantastic. Tim you mentioned healthcare, but this is broadly applicable to all industries, right?
-That's right. the BYOD is a very big concept encompassing a lot of different
vertical market spaces including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and others;
and offering special value in each one of those spaces for customers to take advantage of it.
-Fantastic. Thanks Tim. -Thank you.
