Hey guys. Can't wait to see how many raging All Caps comments we get this time around.
Today PETA goes after Beyonce, Chris Brown tells a court about the "progress" he's made
and we try not to completely lose our sh*t in excitement over the new Star Wars spinoff
movies.
Here's your Brief!
First up, what a wild few weeks its been for Beyonce. First she sings the national anthem
at Obama's inauguration and gets caught lip-synching. Then she silences her critics at a Super Bowl
press meeting with an a capella version of the anthem before going on to deliver an incredible
half-time show. And now Beyonce's heading on what's sure to be a wildly successful tour.
Well, leave it to PETA to try and drag her down by slamming the python and iguana skin
leather outfit she wore to the Super Bowl and the mink coat she wore to the inauguration.
For the record, we don't support animal cruelty here - just intern cruelty - but we also don't
support headline-grabbing from an organization that puts to death the majority of the animals
it takes in. Imagine if the NRA came out with a video game about shooting guns after all
their bluster about how violent video games cause shootings with guns. What? They did?
Ah, for crying out loud. Next story.
So, we would not want to be Chris Brown today - or any day. But definitely not today. The
troubled pop star, who is still on probation, is due to appear in court today to deliver
a progress report to a judge. Wonder how that's gonna go? "Well your honor, since savagely
beating my girlfriend a few years ago, I've attacked multiple people on Twitter, stole
a fan's cellphone, got in to violent altercations with Drake and Frank Ocean, and - just for
fun - kicked a puppy dog on my way over here." We made up that last part. Brown's also under
the microscope for potentially misleading the court about his mandatory community service.
The DA's investigation into Brown's sentence discovered "significant discrepancies indicating
at best sloppy documentation and at worst fraudulent reporting" a finding which could
lead to additional sentencing. It's definitely gonna be a tough day for Chris Brown, but
hey, at least Rihanna still loves him. There's no joke there. It's too sad.
And finally, the big news that Disney and Lucasfilm will be releasing spin-off 'Star
Wars' movies. Call me crazy, but I am every bit as excited for these as I am for the new
trilogy. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the new character-based spinoffs which immediately
led to fan speculation over which characters were most deserving of their own movie. Yoda
is the popular rumor at the moment and we'd love to see more of the Jedi masters backstory
as long as it includes lots of CG-***-kicking Yoda and very little backpack Yoda. Longtime
fans have also been clamoring for a Boba Fett spinoff which might just yield the coolest
space western of all time. Can we please get Tarantino on this? Anyways, the Star Wars
universe is about to explode in a big way with these new spinoffs and a new trilogy
set to kickoff in 2015. Time to geek out in the comments. Who's most deserving of a Star
Wars spinoff movie? There are no wrong answers, except for the ones I don't agree with so
get to it!
