[music] Hello, I’m Dr. Neal Schultz
[pause]
and welcome to DermTV.
One of the most important problems that develop in women's earlobes is that
over time they stretch, become saggy, and become wrinkled. Fortunately, all
of this can be helped with laser treatments, injectable filler treatments,
or a combination of the two.
With laser treatments and especially the carbon dioxide laser (but really
with any type of laser that delivers a specified amount of heat to the
skin) we get a contraction of the over stretched tissue which causes a
plumping of the earlobe, removes the wrinkles and puts the earlobe back to
its former shape. With laser treatments there is often a week to two weeks
of healing, but the results will last for many, many years.
Injectable filler treatments like collagen, restylane and juvederm, are
used in the earlobes just like they are used to augment other places on the
face. These injection treatments take ten to fifteen minutes and they will
also plump up the earlobes, remove the wrinkles and restore the original
shape. While there is no recovery time for these treatments, they do need
to be repeated every four to eight months.
So ladies, if sagging and wrinkled earlobes are getting you down, visit
your dermatologist who can perk them up with filler or laser treatments.
