Hi, Guys, and Welcome to Studio Knit.
Today’s Knitting Lesson is how to knit an I-Cord.
You can cast on two, three, four, five, six, maybe even seven stitches, depending on your
yarn weight. For this lesson, we are going to cast-on five stitches. Now, once you’ve
cast it on, you take it and slide it down on your double-pointed needle, do a half-turn
counter clock-wise, and your working yarn is at the back at the bottom. Very interesting!
We are going to do this a few more times, so you can just let it play if you didn’t
quite catch that and you’ll be able to see it again.
So, from here, we just knit, taking that yarn that’s in the bottom in the back, and we
are going to knit these five stitches. Now, once the five stitches are knit, we just repeat.
We take it, we slide it down to the end of our double-pointed needle, a half-turn counter-clockwise,
pick up your needle. And now, you’ll see the back is at the back. The right side of
your work is always facing you. And it’s always on the right side. And you simply continue
to knit. And you just go along until you have the length that you desire.
So, here we are. We’re going to stop here. We’re going to do one more. Let’s just
slide it down, do that turn, and you’ll see what the work looks like at the back.
Very cool. I love I-Cord because it’s three-dimensional and it’s really simple, as you see. So,
we’re just going to do one more knit row here, five stitches, and then it’s time
to Bind-Off.
When you’re ready to bind-off, whatever length you choose for your I-Cord, you simply…
let’s look at this again. Ah! It’s so cute!
Okay, so we are going to slide it down, turn, and just Bind-Off as you normally would. So,
we’re going to do two stitches, and the Bind-Off process has begun. There you go.
And just continue on.
When you’re done Binding-Off, simply weave in your ends and since this is a three-dimensional
I-Cord, I love to just take that long tail, throw it in the middle, bring it up, chop
it off, right there. So cute. Then just do the same with your other end, as well.
And there you have it: Your Three-Dimensional I-Cord. There are so many fun projects you
can do with a knitted I-Cord.
Thank you so much for watching. This is a new channel, so please do subscribe and please
