Whether you're trying to save a few dollars and not get high speed internet, or you want
to send and receive faxes from your computer, you're going to want an internal modem. My
name's James, computer hardware training coordinator for InterConnection, and I'm going to show
you how to install that device into your machine. The first step is to go out and buy a modem
for your computer. Make sure it will work for your computer. Most of them are PCI modems,
which means they go into the PCI slot. The PCI slots are going to be these little white
slots here. First step is remove this backing plate. Simply unscrew it like so. Now install
the modem. Be very careful. Then you just push it on in. Should line up with the hole
for the screw, or in the case that you have an arm, you'll just put the arm up, locking
it in place. In our case we have a screw, so we'll reinstall that now. Once you have
your modem installed, all you have to do is turn on your computer, your operating system
should hopefully recognize the modem. If it doesn't, then you can just install the software
that came with it. If you do not have any software with your modem, or didn't get the
disc, you can just go into Google, type the model number of your modem. Type in download,
and then drivers, hit search. It should come up right up top. My name's James, and I just
showed you how to install a modem.
