My name is Bonnie Stern, and you're at my cooking school in Toronto.
I feel like I'm a social worker in the kitchen and that I can make life easier for people
by teaching them how to cook easily, healthily, deliciously and really nurturing their families.
Going to University of Toronto gave me a lot of confidence, and gave me the confidence
that I needed to do what I do now. Cooking wasn't the big thing that it is now,
and people didn't respect chefs. Even when I graduated, people didn't respect chefs,
and when I started the cooking school I used to have to say "I have a degree from the University
of Toronto". I think that when I went to the University
of Toronto I wasn't really aware how well-established and how University of Toronto was thought
of in the world. And I think now that I've graduated and become
alumni and hear about it and talk about graduating from there, I can see the respect of people.
Certainly when my daughter and her friends are choosing what university to go to, even
though they live in Toronto and a lot of people go away to school, they find out that University
of Toronto is still a really good choice.
