in a washing machine.
Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance
you must ensure that the appliance first unplugged from the mains.
If you washing machine has had a lot of use and the drum has stopped turning
or if the machine makes a crackling noise or sparks underneath.
You may need to change the carbon brushes.
Start by removing the back panel mto access the motor.
After removing the panel you may find easier to access the motor underneath.
So reattach the panel and transit bolts if you have them.
Before lowering the machine gently onto a carpet or rug.
You can then remove the bottom panel
remove the drive belt from the machine be careful when working near the edges
as these can be very sharp.
The motor is located under the drum
unclip all the cables from its and remove any cable ties to.
Unscrew all the bolts holding the motor in place there may be more of these further into
the machines interior,
Carefully remove the motor from the machine and turn it round.
Take note of the angle at which the brush assemblies are fitted.
Before unscrewing each assembly from the motor disconnecting the wire
and removing the assembly.
Take the replacement brush assembly
and push the brush against the commutator making sure that the brush
contacts at the correct angle.
