Hello, and welcome back to part 2 of our video series on turnkey website applications to
help you get your online business up and running. Now I realize building a web site from scratch
can sound pretty intimidating but with the content management system, or CMS, you can
actually update your content on your website, without the need for a costly web developer.
I'm not saying you don't need to hire a developer to do the upfront work, and maybe some of
the customization. But with CMS you can do things like publish blog posts, update product
description and pricing on your website. With CMS solutions like WordPress, Joomla, and
TypePad, updating your website is really as simple as just typing in your username and
password to log in, entering your content and then pressing save.
So which CMS is right for your online business? The first one we're going to take a look at
is WordPress.WordPress is is an opens source blog tool and publishing platform that allows
you to create content on the fly and incorporate plugins and these plugins are gonna allow
you to add functionality to your web site.
WordPress is actually one of the most popular CMS' out there and is used by over thirteen
percent of the one million biggest web sites. Now even though WordPress is the most common
CMS used by online businesses there are other platforms out there that you can consider.
Let's take a look at Joomla.
Joomla is a CMS that also enables you to build web sites and powerful online applications
without any major coding experience. The core Joomla framework enables small businesses
to quickly and easily build inventory control systems, data reporting tools and custom product
catalogs. Alright, so the last CMS we're going to look at is Typepad and Typepad is a CMS
service for non technical users.
Additional features available on Typepad include multiple author support, photo albums and
mobile blogging. You just simply have to choose your design from their library, create your
first entry, and go live immediately. Now if you're a beginner, Type Pad and Word Press
are really gonna to be your best options, while Joomla is more of a CMS that's geared
toward advanced users.
At Form Stack, our service actually integrates with all three of these platforms. So it you're
looking to solicit user feedback, create a poll, or set up a lead generation form, check
out formstack.com.
All right, so at this point, let's assume you have your website up and running and customers
are eager to make purchases from your website. How do you plan on taking online payments
for your products and services? Now if you expect customers to make purchases from your
website, they're going to expect a secure way to do so.
So, in the next video, I'll show you some of the best options for doing just that.
