two very good, young entrepreneurs
who are also willing to look further than the bakery.
I joined the business when I was 18.
For the last two years now, we have been completely independent.
Basically, this company is devided into two: we have the bakery and the store.
The two are very different.
Erwin manages the bakery and its staff and I manage the store.
We saw a certain trend. When the shop was full, people would pass us by.
They would go to the supermarket across the street.
We really wanted to attract more young people; that was our main goal.
They are completely right: young people do not want to wait.
Everything has to go fast for them.
The older people from the neighborhood, they like to stop to talk.
You can see a very nice combination of the two in the store.
When you enter the store
all of our products are displayed along the route you follow.
You walk by all of our products.
If you would like some help, you can address any of the staff walking around
but if you do not, you can take your time and look around a bit.
These bakers from Westland formed their own association.
It is made up of 7 bakers from the region.
They wanted a unique bread different from the supermarkets.
We came up with our pure, Westland Gold.
A natural bread with no E-numbers, no cow milk.
It is an enormous success.
First, we wanted a special bread that no one else had.
Then we spent maybe a year testing different recipes.
We had at least 20 meetings with the Westland bakers.
We worked together with Zeelandia; they made a mix for us.
We tested it and it is the best of the best. As if it is made of pure gold.

They helped us a lot.
Promotional material, posters, a video.
We advertized a lot, so ads, too.
We organized a night, these seven bakers and their staff.
It was an enormous success.
The next day, the staff started selling with renewed energy.
Now we were really going to sell it.
Our strength is that
the marketing, the testbakers and I
are constantly involved with these bakers.
Cees visits us often and really thinks along with us.
And not just for the bakery: he also looks at the store.
And he always has new ideas.
Zeelandia is a real family business which thinks along with its customers.
In businesses where the bakery is really behind the store
do fantastic business. Because they are on top of things.
People will always chose quality.

having a new product every week to keep people interested
trying something different every time so that your customers do not get bored
