Bitsy: At the Frugalicious Show, we love finding new things.
Erin: Amen to that.
Bitsy: Now beauty is not just about skin and makeup, we've got hair to
maintain
Erin: Hello!
Bitsy: We've got a lot of hair, so I mean shampoos conditioners, sprays,
pomades, it can get wicked expensive, so we need a lot of products
sometimes to maintain this look. So here's a great place -
pricegrabber.com. They feature huge markdowns on items of all types and
they have an extensive health and beauty section which has reviews.
Erin: So important when trying new products.
Bitsy: I love reviews. It is absolutely amazing, plus they'll tell you if
they have rebates or if you can combine, coupons with rebates, it's just
savings all over.
Erin: Awesome.
Bitsy: But what about salon hair care, can we save there?
Erin: Why don't we try?
Bitsy: Oh yes, there's a couple of ways. Now a lot of women are committed
to their stylist, they really don't want to veer off course. But if you
aren't the type to settle down with one type of person, try going to a
salon training school, where the cuts are free, or at least pretty close to
it. And listen, I've gotten some great cuts. I went to Arrojo in New York,
and an appointment at Arrojo with a senior stylist will run you a couple
hundred dollars, no joke. But I got a fabulous cut from one of their
trainees for $15!
Erin: Amazing!
Bitsy: Fifteen
Erin: And, didn't you walk out with your makeup done too?
Bitsy: I did as a matter of fact, one of their cosmetology training girls
when I was leaving said would you like a free refresher for your makeup. Free!
Erin: Free?
Bitsy: Hello! My favorite word.
Erin: My middle name.
Bitsy: So I sat right down got a complete refresher, so I left paying $15
but I looked like a million bucks.
Erin: Yeah
Bitsy: Love that place!
Erin: The schools are great but the trick is to find a more high end
training program so look for places like Bumble and Bumble and Aveda in
your area. The students there are all very very well-trained and there's a
teacher who's monitoring the whole session to make sure your'e happy with
the cut you're getting, or the color or your whole service.
Bitsy: And those kids will be charging 200 bucks in no time.
Erin: No time at all
Bitsy: Now another way to save at salons is through social networking
savings sites like Groupon!
Erin; Mmm hmmm
Bitsy: Have you heard about this? It's power in numbers folks, so stick
around, we're going to tell you all about this new savings opportunity.
Erin: Amazing!
