Humility is important. Being a leader is a really tough job and most leaders work with
really important issues and if you have the good fortune to be successful, kind of scaling
those mountains, it's really important to remember that you didn't do it by yourself.
Somebody got you there; somebody helped you there, so I think humility is the first thing.
Not shy, not withdrawn, but just know that you didn't do this by yourself. There was
probably some luck involved. You weren't all that, but it was a good day, so humility.
Courage-there are a lot of tough decisions that have to be made and some of them are
some days neither one of the options are very good, but you have to make the best choice,
make the best of it, and explain it the best you can. Sometimes those are tough choices.
I think sometimes you have to stand up for things that aren't popular. Some days the
wind is in your face and you have to have the courage to still stand up and say how
you see things. I think that is important. I think self confidence is also important.
I don't think you can have courage and humility without self confidence. The best leaders
I know, work *** themselves, are very introspective, and that gives them the self
confidence. I think they're disciplined-not necessarily disciplined in all their actions,
but how they think through things to try to reach the best conclusions. Self confidence,
self reflected, humble, and lots of courage.
