Welcome. We're going to make some green smoothies. If you don't know what a
green smoothie is, it's very simple. It's this new craze that's going
around the world. All it is real simply is a combination of fresh fruits
and then dark leafy greens. It's not vegetables, the dark leafy greens.
We need to start off with some fruit. If it doesn't have fruit in it, it's
going to taste like ***. Very easily; we're going to get some bananas,
we're going to get some greens. The sweetener is going to be the banana.
You can use other things like dates, honey, or any type of sweet fruit
really; it's going to sweeten it up. As long as you have a fair bit of
fruit, you can mix it with whatever greens you like. This is just a big box
of greens that I got form the market. I got carrot tops and the carrots,
obviously. I'll eat them and I'll put the carrot tops in my smoothies.
Spinach, bunches of spinach; I was eating big bunches of spinach. They're
really good. Got to wash them. Parsley, celery, some cucumbers, some mint,
some kale, and some lemons. Let's make a green smoothie.
Starting off with the bananas, let's put in one banana. Let's put in some
dates, 4 dates. Cucumber, just chuck it in, even the tops go in. We're
going to put some spinach in. How much? I don't know; that much. Banana,
dates, whole cucumber, big handful of spinach; what else is going to go in
here? That's seems pretty darn easy. Really, all these celery tops you can
put in. There's more nutrition in the tops of our fruit and veg than in the
bottoms. For example, for this to grow, all the nutrition from the sun had
to hit the leaves, make all the nutrition, and then filter down to this
part. There's still concentration of everything in these leaves. We leave
them on. I eat this. I can juice them, but I'm going to put these in my
smoothies because it's much more nutritious for us. Celery tops, how many?
I don't know. I do know; that many, a handful.
No the Vitamix with the lid, always with the lid on top. This is going to
be very thick. There's not much water in here so we might have to add in
some water at the very end. We might even need some ice. You get some ice
from the freezer because that's where ice comes from, and we're going to
put in couple of cubes. That's maybe a tray of ice. Tamper. If this ever
happens at home where it's just not turning into liquid quick enough, you
need to add some liquid. This is what not to do. You can get some water,
you can get some coconut water, juice, all those types of things you can
get. I'm just going to get some water now. I know this is a big water
bottle. That was a cup of water, 1 1/2 cup.
Starting on slow, this is a Vitamix; slow. If you want, you can go . . .
let's put a teaspoon of coconut oil in there [inaudible: 03:38] that's
about 1 1/2 minutes, 2 minutes. Turn it off. If you ever get bubbles in the
top, run it on the low setting just slowly, and now they're gone.
The first green smoothie. Will it be good? I hope it will be. What a joke
if it isn't. Awesome. Hope you like it. Brain freeze.
