JOHN CARSTARPHEN: Hi, this is John Carstarphen for Expert Village. Of illumination behind
the subject. So this is very basic, very base lighting for any kind of lighting setup in
3-D. And no matter how large your scene is, no matter how complex it is, three-point lighting
will figure into your scene in one way or another. There is a fourth light that gets
added to a scene. It's called a background light, but that's--it does the same thing
or has the same function as the backlight, which is to separate the subject from the
background. And all these lights work in tandem to do that, to create a sense of depth and
to separate our subject from the background. So that's very basic three-point lighting.
But of course, lighting has other aspects to it, and we're going to talk about three
different aspects of lighting and how it can not only create a good-looking scene but create
an emotion. And we're going to do that by lighting a scene that takes place at night
and that scene will encompass a lot of shadows and dark places and mood. And we're going
to discuss intensity, direction and color.
