Tethering
Tethering is a connection procedure between the Crypto tablet and the smartphone
so as the first can use the 3G connection of the second.
The function of tethering is to convert the smartphone to a modem, router and access point
- like the ones we have at home - and therefore provide connection to the tablet.
Although the connection between tablet and smartphone can be either wired or wireless,
the Wi-Fi connection is the easiest way, the one that we are about to see.
In the Android smartphone in the Settings menu,
you select "Wireless & Networks" and then "Tethering & portable hotspot".
By selecting "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot", the smartphone gets disconnected from any other wireless network.
Select "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" and then "Timeout"
to define the idle time until the deactivation of the wireless access,
for example 15 minutes.
Select "Configure Wi-Fi hotspot"
and define a name for the network, for example "3gconn".
Secure your connection so as nobody else can use it by selecting WPA2 PSK in the Security option,
define an access code, for example “1122334455” and press Save.
In your Crypto tablet activate the wireless network if it's not already activated.
After having selected the Wi-Fi option in the Settings menu,
you will see in the main window the name of the network «3gconn»
that you created from your smartphone, so it is ready to select it
Type the access code of the network - in this case “1122334455” - and select Connect
The "Connected" indication appears under the network name
and now you can surf all over the Internet through the 3G connection.
Be careful on the charges!
