Welcome to Keep or Sweep--a product review series by improvephotography.com
I'm Dustin Olsen, and I'm Jim Harmer
and we talk about photo gear and whether or not it should stay on the face of
this planet
this week we're reviewing the Monoprice graphics tablet
this tablet is cool because it's a very inexpensive Monoprice is a great
company for finding inexpensive products that sell for a lot more on other places
So, the graphics tablet the purpose of it is to replace them out to use it to replace a mouse.
You can draw on it so that you can say i want this to be a little bit thinner on photoshop
and you when i press harder it applies more the effect in photoshop so it's
really useful for photographers and graphic designers in this isn't possible
and probably a must-have if you're going to work in Photoshop a lot.
Tell me something you like about it. Well, I really like the size about it and the hotkeys.
You know, you can draw and you know you're not gonna reach the edge of the
screen for you reach the edge of the tablet. Then, the other thing, is these
hotkeys. If I want to cut copy or paste, I just tap on it right there don't even
need to reach over to the keyboard that's cool. I love those features too....
Probably nothing else I like about it. [laughter]
but
Okay. I do not like how unsensitive it is.
uh... I feel like I'm actually etching a stone tablet and when I have to use this.
Not my biggest
feature. Well, and you look ridiculous when
I walk by your office and see you just chiseling away like Moses.
when he just wants to do a Photoshop. What I don't like about it
is the battery in the stylus. Wacom tablets, another brand that makes graphics
tablets, don't use the battery at least in the ones that I've used.
And everything is running out of batteries all day long--the flash, the camera,
the trigger and receiver,
everything!
And so I hate that uh... it's one more thing with batteries. Alright, so benefits
and drawbacks. What do you think, Dustin? Keep it or sweep it?
I have to say...
sweep it.
I have to say... sweep it.
You don't have to say that just because I said it. [laughter]
