LANINGHAM: Welcome to This Week on developerWorks.
I'm Scott Laningham back in Austin, Texas.
It's another short solo show this week, so let me tell you about a few new pieces of content
on developerWorks that you might want to check out.
From the Agile transformation topic, we have Agile DevOps,
the flattening of the software release process, how DevOps is transforming software delivery.
This one is from Paul Duvall, CTO at Celogen.
What does it mean to flatten your software release process?
How will this affect your organizational structure?
In the first installment of the Agile DevOps series,
DevOps expert Paul Duvall describes how developers in operations are working together
on software delivery teams to streamline the process of developing and releasing software.
He discusses such nascent topics as test-driven infrastructures, transient environments
and the Chaos Monkey and how these techniques all work together toward the goal
of getting software to users more quickly and more often.
From the Linux topic area, we have a new article on building custom embedded Linux distributions
with the Yocto Project, open source professional grade tools for embedded Linux development.
The author of this piece, Jeffrey M. Osier-Mixon,
is the Yocto Project manager at Intel.
The Yocto Project is an open source project formed with the goal
of making embedded Linux development easier and more portable across architectures.
This article introduces the project and provides a step-by-step walk
through on how to get started.
And finally, from the Java technology topic, we have HTML5 2D game development,
introducing Snail Bait, getting started with your first platform video game.
Author David Geary is an author and speaker with Clarity Training Incorporated.
In this series, HTML5 maven David Geary shows you how
to implement an HTML5 2D video game one step at a time.
This initial installment shows you the finished game
and then gets you started implementing it from scratch.
If you've ever wanted to create an HTML5 game but didn't have time
to master all the details, then this series is for you.
Check out a new interview we published this week with Rich Holada,
who is Vice President of IBM Predictive Analytics.
Rich talked about bringing strategy around big data, social media and automation,
optimization together to help companies support and inform business decisions.
You'll find that on the developerWorks YouTube channel, in my blog at ibm.co/scottlaningham
and the audio-only version on the IBM developerWorks podcast iTunes channel.
I'll be at the Smarter Commerce Global Summit in Orlando,
Florida next week with some great interviews there
about redefining commerce in the age of the consumer.
So follow that on my blog right here on developerWorks.
I'm Scott Laningham, talk to you next time.
