My name is Josué Alejandro and I'm a senior research assistant
at ONPRC.
Here at the Behavioral Sciences Unit we tend to the animal psychological
well-being
by promoting their natural behavior
and by providing them with social opportunities
I love classical music and I play it to the monkeys whenever I have the opportunity
We look to provide a lot of enrichment options for animals here at the Primate Center
it can be audio-visual enrichment so a lot of our employees do
donate their old TVs and VCRs as well as their VHS collections
We also make frozen treats
We also provide them with PVC structures that we make
from this occasion these are the cleanest
animals and they're free of most of the pathogens that the animals on the outside have
so these are like bubble boy kids
I'm trying to cover myself so that if i walked through another part of the center I'm not
bringing in those bugs
I'm originally from San Juan Puerto Rico
I worked there at the Caribbean Primate Research Center for four years 0:01:16.000, 0:01:21.830 and I met the people here from OHSU at a conference in 2007 in Vienna
a few months later they offered me a position here
Outside of work
I spend a lot of my time working out such as
going to my yoga class, going to willpower and grace class, going to my
running group, going to the gym
I also like going hiking
going trips to the coast and I love traveling
