I am really worried...
What is it this time? Is your husband losing and forgetting things again?
No, it’s not that. Jim and Clara left me their three year old son yesterday. The boy
now has bruises all over his knees and it got me thinking.
What happened to him? Is he alright?
Clara said that he was he was going to be fine. I was watching him one second and the
next he was teeth first on the walkway!
Hope he didn’t lose any teeth.
It got me thinking though; will I be a good mom?
You cannot base your decision on being a good mom on one random incident. Besides, your
husband had a couple of bumps on his head when he was a baby. He turned out just fine!
He married you didn’t he?
That explains the almost lacking sense of time and location!
And the fact that he can never seem to find anything in the house by himself!
How did you do it?
There is no school of child rearing. Being a good mother is an instinctive thing at the
end of the day. You simply feel it, know it and despite of all this, still make mistakes.
I am afraid of making mistakes that will cost me my child.
The best you can do as a mother is be there for your child. You will not be able to be
everywhere he or she will be but have faith that the child is okay.
It seems like a lot of guesswork to me!
It is hard work. It is also the most gratifying job on earth. Seeing my son grow up into who
he is today is probably the best thing I have done and will ever do.
I think you are right.
So do not worry about the occasional burns, bruise and cuts. It’s a part of growing
up.
