This week: BlackBerry mania, the HTC M7 makes a cameo, Macworld coverage, and more! This
is the Mobile Nations Monday Brief!
TITLE GRAPHIC
Greetings mobile delegates, I’m Ashley Esqueda, and you’re tuned into the Mobile Nations
Monday Brief. Of course, the biggest news of last week was on Crackberry, where Research
in Motion became BlackBerry, the Z10 and Q10 were made officially official, and I started
screaming when Kevin showed up on stage to have his man bun lopped off. Even though Crackberry
Samson’s hair is gone, Kevin and the Crackberry team have been working around the clock to
bring you the finest BB10 coverage on the internet. The ultimate BlackBerry Z10 review
is already online, offering a look at the first BB10 phone to hit the market. You’ll
have to read the full review for the lowdown, but it’s no surprise the Crackberry Nation
is excited about it. There are of course improvements to be made, as no OS is perfect, but it seems
like a lot of BlackBerry addicts can’t wait to get their hands on BB10. There are a lot
of new tutorials, stories, and other BB10 goodies on Crackberry dot com, so head over
and dig in. RIM is dead, long live BlackBerry!
iMore providing Macworld iWorld coverage last week as Rene headed out to Moscone Center
in San Francisco to see what trouble he could get himself into. Just kidding, Rene’s a
peace loving Canadian. But he DID get to see a lot of great products, and he got to participate
in a panel about Apple’s current status with power users with the likes of Lex Friedman,
John Gruber, Matthew Panzarino, and Paul Kafasis. There are videos and other great articles
on Macworld|iWorld 2013 on iMore dot com, so if you’re interested in reading up about
any of the products or events that happened, click on over!
Android Central posted a story last week about the reported M7 -- the super Android phone
HTC’s rumored to announce at MWC in the coming weeks. But it’s not really a secret
anymore -- here’s a video of HTC CEO Peter Chou leading his employees in an “M7”
chant fest. [VIDEO]
M7! M7! M7! We still don’t know specifics on HTC’s newest flagship, but rest assured
we’ll be hearing all about it on February 19th, when HTC holds their unveiling event
in New York City and London. Hit up Android Central dot com for all the details as they
hit the news wire.
Danny over at WPcentral couldn’t be bothered to give me his link, here’s a video of a
hairless cat in a bathtub. [VIDEO]
Nah, fear not, winphone fans. I read your site, and in my humble opinion, the big news
last week is that Google and Microsoft seem to have come to some manner of agreement,
and Google support for Exchange ActiveSync was extended until July 31st of this year.
Before, it looked like EAS support would be dropped on January 30th, giving Gmail users
new to Windows Phone a less than optimal experience without it. We’re not sure if Microsoft
had anything to do with Google’s extension, but it’s good news for the folks who haven’t
yet dumped Gmail for Outlook on Windows Phone, as now Microsoft will have plenty of time
to bring CalDAV and CardDAV support to your phone. Head over to WPcentral dot com for
all the details!
Lastly, webOS Nation spent some time this week checking out a video HP’s Kevin Schaaf
presented, explaining why Enyo is a fantastic framework for building apps. Since I’m a
host and not a wicked developer, I’ll let you watch the masters at work:
[VIDEO] The video’s a full 20 minutes long, and
it’s a pretty interesting and entertaining watch, if you’re interested in developing
apps and want to know more about what the Enyo framework can do for you. Hit up webos
nation dot com for the full video!
