Alright guys I got a new laptop for you here, this is the AS5920. It's an Acer Aspire,
and this is the 'refurb' model which is going to make this more affordable, if you want to get this
into your house it's not going to cost you nearly as much if you go with the 'refurb' versus
the original one. Now, this thing it's awesome, I'll tell you why. When they 'refurb' these
computers they take everything into account, they wipe the system clean, they reformat the drive
they make sure that everything is clean, there's no scratches it's glossy,
they make sure everything works perfectly. Acer actually go through this huge checklist of things,
and I'm telling you, it's a huge checklist. I actually saw the piece of paper that's on,
of all of the things that they checked to make sure, they actually checked every button,
they made sure that everything, functionality is still working 100%,
they open the DVD drive, they test the battery with special software,
they flash the hard drive. They do all this great stuff to bring you a product,
that's going to work just as good as the original but be substantially more affordable.
Now the 5920 is an interesting laptop. It's got a lot of great features,
it is a 15.4, it's not an ultra-mobile 15.4. It's about 6 to 7 pounds, probably 7 pounds.
It's kind of heavy. So it's more of a desktop replacement, but when you're spending
such a small amount of money on a laptop, this is what you get, and I'll tell you what.
Besides the weight everything on here is amazing. It has every single feature you're going
to want to get. It's got card reader, and a DVD burner, and it's got awesome, awesome
awesome... I can't say it again. One more time, awesome monitor, it looks
really sharp, it's a glossy front so it gives you those saturated bold colors that you'd like to get
without giving too too much reflection, it is.. You know you can my reflection in the background,
some of the glossier screens are better than others you know, at not reflecting stuff,
but this one's really good at it. I love it.
Plus the layout of the entire laptop is very very attractive. If you'll notice,
let me show you the back side of it. You see on the back over here it's a dual color.
It's got like a metallic dark dark grey inside. You can't really tell from all angles,
and this angle you can really tell. Here it's Piano black, now, on this angle though,
you can't even tell. It's very interesting and it's black on the outside,
the dual colored black and then it's black all on here, but when you open it up again it's like
this off white cream color. And, I wouldn't call it beige, I'd say it's like a very light grey.
And I'll tell you what, it's very unique, it's differentiated from a lot of other laptops
it looks really cool and it's very very nice, I'll tell you what. And, just so you guys know,
this is... Have a latch right here. This is the first Acer laptop that has a top mounted latch
and it kind of... If you look up here come up here, it's part of the webcam, so that's
where your webcam goes. It's a Crystal Eye webcam, your dual mikes.
Let's get back into other stuff. 15.4 inch monitor I'm going to show you down here,
come to the keyboard, I'm going to show you the keyboard 'cause there's a lot of interesting stuff
going on here. First of all, this little bar right here, when you're plugged in, turns on.
So that's kind of interesting to say the least. It's interesting, it works well.
Power button, these are your indicator lights, for you know memory, hard drive..
This is your Num lock, that's your Caps lock. Virtual surround sound which is this huge
speaker bar right here, which is actually kind of cool. Gives you the
you know the surround sound feel but with only 2 speakers. Very interesting.
This is the E-power button right here, this is Acer's little interesting button, the E-button.
I don't know what E stands for but, it's pretty cool because I'll show you what it does.
Backup so they can see the screen, I'm going to show them. You push the button,
and you get... This little screen pops up. It's pretty much related to this software up here,
which is the more full featured version using the mouse. This is the one-touch version, but
pretty much you can set all the different modes. You can set it automatic, you can do your,
your wireless networks here, this tell you your battery life,
what type of energy profile you have, whether you're using the performance, the balanced
or the battery saver mode. You know when you go to battery saver it's going to turn down your CPU
a little bit, it's going to turn down the brightness of your monitor,
it's going to change some your power management settings, such as what happens when you close
the lid or when you push the power button. Or how long it takes to go to sleep, or to turn on the...
What do you call these things? Screen savers! Turn on the screen savers,
so you get a lot of interesting features and if you press it again,
hey it just disappears and you go right back into the regular specs. Now,
talking about the keyboard, awesome keyboard, loved it a lot, I typed with it, it's very quiet
ironically enough, this is a really quiet keyboard and it's very...
I don't know how would you say it. It's punchy it comes back quickly but there's not a lot of
travel. It's a short key stroke, to the bottom. Looking over here, on these buttons over here,
you have a bunch of Media-Center buttons, these are your 'Play', your 'Pause', your 'Rewind'
all that good stuff, and then over on this side you have the.. The other side you have your
Bluetooth button, your Internet button, and mail, stuff like that. These are programmable,
you can do what you please with these, and down here, scroll down a little bit, you got a couple
lights down here, this is your hard-drive indicator light, and then your power light,
which is pretty much it.
The track pad is very flush, you're not going to notice much in here, there's not much of a
difference, and it does have three buttons, and, you know, I've never had three buttons before,
I don't know what to do with the middle one. Just love it. It'll love you back.
Let's go on a tour on the outside of this thing, before I go into the specs.
Starting off over here, Kensington Lock, you're going to need to use that, if you're ever in a
business environment you're are going to lock it down. This is a USB 2.0 Port,
here is your DVD Burner, it will do dual layers, and just about anything you want to do
on there any type of media format. Alright, so right here you have your Volume
little roller wheel, which I love, I love the old school Volume buttons, they're really quick
to get all the way up and really quick to get all the way down, you don't have to fiddle with
any buttons. Over here you have your input and output for your headset and your microphone
and this non-descriptor black one right here, you wouldn't believe it. That's an S/PDIF
connection. Which is very very odd to have. Moving along down the line, boy I wish you guys could
see this a little bit better. That right there is your SD card reader,
and that will read just about anything you want. You can put SD, SDHC,
media sticks, all that good stuff will work in there. Moving on down to over here,
this is an infrared receiver, which you can pretty much integrate with a media center
or with remote controls, whatever you want you can use it, it's there if you need it.
Let's go up to... Already did that side, let's go back to this side.
Alright here's some more cool stuff. Starting from over here, a VGA connector,
this is your Gigabit Ethernet so that's ten one hundred one thousand, very fast,
you do want that fast internet connection. This is a 56k modem which you do not want but it's there
anyway 'cause I don't know whatever. Two USB 2.0 ports,
7 pin digital S-Video which can do 1080i high def if you wanted it to.
This is an additional USB 2.0 as well as a firewire right there,
and then finally my favorite part, 'cause it lets you add any prefer you want,
a 54 millimeter Express Card Slot, which is very very useful. You could put TV tuners in there
and extra USB's and all sorts of crazy stuff can go in there. Personally I like the
TV tuners that can slide right in there, a flush mount, you have a TV tuner in the computer
all the time. Really really cool. Taking a look at the desktop you're going to see obviously
that it does come with a considerable amount of software on there, which I personally did not
like too much, just got a lot of blow air, but I'll tell you what, this thing is really fast
and it runs it no matter what. It doesn't really matter and that's because an awesome processor.
It's using the Core 2 Duo T5550 that's a 1.83 GHz processor. Core 2 Duo,
very decent. Running Home Premium on here, 32-bit it is a 32 operating system
and it does have 3 GB of DDR2 so it will run Vista with no problems.
It's got a 250 Gig hard drive, which is more than enough. It's got B and G WiFi,
obviously you're going to need WiFi. It will.. has that onboard you don't need to add any
extra cards, the DVD burner's there, it's got a lithium-Ion battery, testing it it's got about
2.75 hours something like that. 2 and three quarters of an hour.
Wasn't all the way up to 3 but I was torture testing it. I was playing a DVD,
surfing the web, monitor was on Brightness, and... On maximum brightness, and...
What else was I doing? I don't know I was doing a bunch of stuff
it's crazy. Webcam, right there. 1.5... 1.2... 1.3 what is it? - 1.3.
- 1.3 megapixel, it takes awesome webcam shots. You will not be able to tell it's a 1.3
even thought that's actually what 99% of laptops use nowadays,
this one has an amazing picture when you're doing Skype, or video conferencing
or Instant Messenger, it looks really really sharp and I couldn't believe how good it looked,
I was really, pretty blown away. Also the surround sound on this thing is fantastic.
I can't say enough about that... Virtual surround sound is really cool. So,
awesome laptop it is the 'Refurb' from Acer, I like it a lot, it's very affordable,
College students, small businesses if you need something that's going to get the job done
get all your tasks accomplished at a quick pace plenty of hardware space,
awesome processor, awesome memory, awesome operating system,
great looks. Love the way it looks, lots of features.
It's a great laptop, consider it heavily, I heavily encourage you to consider it.
