ArchiCAD provides complex trimming techniques to help the editing of Roofs and Shells. When
we have a series of elements that we want to Trim to the Roofs and Shells above them,
we can select all elements involved, then use the Connect…
Trim Elements to Roof or Shell command of the context menu. Keep the Use Roofs and Shells
from current selection radio button selected and click the Trim button.
All construction elements will be trimmed to the Roofs and Shells properly.
The rule in such a case is that internally, Roofs and Shells are first trimmed to each
other in such as way that their parts falling below each other will be removed… then all
other elements are trimmed by this new body by removing their parts falling above the
Roofs and Shells.
This default operation works well in most cases. For more special cases there are additional
options to achieve those desired results as can be seen in other videos.
This connect type operation can be performed in any viewpoint, including Section and Elevation
viewpoints or 3D Document viewpoints.
