Take a look.
What do you see?
No matter where they live or where they come from,
we see a child's potential to shape a better world.
For over 60 years World Vision has worked with the poorest
and most vulnerable in the Asia-Pacific.
Today we work in 23 countries across the region,
supported by 15,000 staff.
Yet our work is a personal mission.
We are people from all over the globe
united by our dedication to children and their development.
It's what defines us.
Despite growing prosperity in the region,
chronic child hunger and malnutrition in the Asia-Pacific
are some of the highest in the world.
This region accounts for close to half of all child
and maternal deaths worldwide.
In response to this staggering toll
World Vision's health and nutrition work
focuses on the first 1,000 days of a child's life.
This ensures that children have the best possible chance
to live a full and healthy life.
Rapid urbanization and growing inequality in the Asia-Pacific
is exposing an increasing number of children to abuse,
exploitation and trafficking.
The kids here face these situations every day.
Because they are out in the open,
any adult who chooses to harm them can.
World Vision partners with communities to create a safe environment for children
and empowers children protect themselves from harm.
We listen to children to understand their experiences,
and work with families and government authorities
at all levels to keep children safe.
Education is the key to a child's development.
Illiteracy and the lack of essential life skills
prevents countless children from realizing their full potential.
World Vision partners with parents, teachers
and community leaders, to ensure boys and girls
receive quality education at every age.
We also support learning outside the classroom.
Our youth clubs give opportunities for young people
to develop important life skills
and become agents of change for their communities.
The Asia-Pacific is the most disaster-prone region in the world.
The effects of climate change amplify the problem
and children are most vulnerable.
Our work begins long before disaster strikes.
We work with communities
so they can understand their risks better,
adapt their lives and their livelihoods to those risks,
and be well prepared to respond to disasters.
That's why it's so important for us
to take a holistic approach to disaster risk reduction.
Despite the present challenges
investing in the future, investing in children
is how we believe we can overcome them.
As the Asia-Pacific region grows and obstacles mount,
we're working closely with communities more than ever
to ensure meaningful and lasting impact.
Through our committed staff on the ground
in thousands of villages around the region,
we enable communities to stand on their own
and empower them to make a difference for their children.
That's what keeps us going.
That's who we are.
