5th October - WORLD TEACHER'S DAY
I think this is the time for us to build non-violent movements stronger.
In my training programmes I tell young people
that when you shout slogans you lift two hands.
One hand is all about scaling up non-violence.
You want to scale-up non-violence more and more.
So last time, when 25000 people walked we had 3500 trained activists in non-violence.
This time we have 12500 trained social activists in non-violence.
So I think every opportunity should be used to help people to understand
that non-violence is a much powerful tool than violence.
[ Slogan : Ekta Parishad - long life! ]
Unless there is strong solidarity, we are not going to win.
The governments across the globe are trying to divide people.
They want globalisation of market,
they don't want globalisation of people.
Everybody is trying to divide, we need to understand this.
Government is also trying to destroy voluntary organisations and social movements
because they don't want anybody to challenge them.
So when you are destroying the possibility for people to come together,
destroying voluntary efforts and social movements,
basically you are destroying democratic institutions.
So my request to the world community today is that they need to realise
that we may not be survinving because of the support
that would be received from the government.
We will be survinving because of the kind of solidarity we express
to each other movements,
and help each other in times of struggle.
