If there is a fire, I know how important it is to make sure I can get out of the building.
No matter where I am, at home or at work, I have to know two different ways to get out.
You have to have two ways out. A lot of times in the dorm,
you take the elevator most places, so it's important to know that there are stairwells.
It's very important to know two ways out,
because you never know when you're going to have to get out in a hurry.
It only takes us a second to look around and spot the second exit.
If my first exit is blocked, by a bike or a trash can,
I might need to use a second way to get out.
So get familiar with the second exit and practice using it.
It's important to talk to your RA before an emergency occurs.
It's their job to help you understand the building better
and know where your two exits are.
It's important when you hear an alarm to get out and stay out.
Even if you're the first one out, don't be hesitant.
If you hear that alarm, you need to get out,
and other people will probably follow your lead.
Remember, fire safety -- it's part of living. It's part of living.
