Hi, and welcome to the Wiser tutorial series. Before you get started with the powerful features of Wiser,
you need to create an account at wiserenergy.com. After doing so, you will have full acess to both the Wiser app and web portal.
The Wiser Coordinator is the focal point of a connected home.
It’s used to link your network of smart devices to the Wiser cloud, and must be activated before you can connect with other Wiser devices.
There are currently two Wiser coodinator models, that operate in the same way.
Setup is easy, so let’s get started!
There are two connections that should be made. First, apply power.
Next, connect the coordinator to your home’s modem or router with the Ethernet cable.
The coordinator should show this blink pattern once power is applied and a network connection is available.
Coordinator model 2 shows this pattern.
The Wiser coordinator conveniently fits in an out-of- sight location.
The next step is to activate the coordinator and create your new home energy network.
Go to the Wiser web portal at wiserenergy.com to activate your account.
You can also explore other tabs such as 'buy' and 'learn'.
The Buy tab links directly to online retailers.
From the learn tab as a homeowner, you get an overview of the incredible versatility of Wiser.
You can browse products such as our power meter, smart thermostat, smart plug,
and also the electrical vehicle charging station add-on.
Go to the Wiser web portal at wiserenergy.com to activate your account. You can also explore other tabs such as 'shop' and 'learn more'
The Wiser coordinator, the 'brain' of the Wiser system, comes with a unique 3 word Catch Phrase.
The first step after selecting 'Activate' is to enter the catch phrase.
This method offers a level of security above that of standard wifi, and ensures that
nobody but you will be able to access your system.
The next few screens are a standard registration process.
Your system provider will typically be the builder of your home.
The drop down list for your energy provider is based on the zip code that you entered.
You can find the info for your billing cycle on your last utility bill. Although you can skip this step, it is important to do this later, as it allows
Wiser to report on roughly the same time period as your utility bill.
Wiser offers 3 subscription options: Smart Energy Premium, Plus, and Basic. The first two, which include enchanced features, require a
valid credit card. The free option requires no credit card, and you can upgrade at any time. For an overview of what each plan includes,
simply scroll down or click on the 'learn' tab at wiserenergy.com.
You've now created your account. Click 'Sync Equipment' and Wiser will attempt to connect with your Wiser coordinator, which should
already have power and ethernet connections .
As Wiser is establishing a connection with your coordinator, please read and accept the user agreement.
If Wiser is unable to communicate with your coordinator, you will see this message. Follow the steps listed, and select 'Check Connection'
If you verify that you have power and a live ethernet connection and still cannot connect, please select 'Support Center' to contact Wiser.
Now you're ready to start adding devices to your Wiser network. Please see Wiser tutorial #2 ' Adding and Controlling Devices'.
Thanks, and we look forward to hearing about the creative ways you use Wiser to save energy and live comfortably in your home.
