\f0\fs24 \cf0 is there anything I can take or do to get sleep when my hips and my upper
legs are hurting?\'94\ \pard\pardeftab720\li1800\fi-1800\ri720\qj
\cf0 \ The short answer is yes, there are a lot of
things you can do. It\'92s not an uncommon situation because you\'92re weight bearing
during the day, whether you\'92re standing, sitting, walking, or participating in an activity.\
\ Some of the simpler things you can do are
the moist heating pads that you can put in the microwave. I typically have people do
one of two things. If they have access to a bathtub and Epsom salts, they can fill the
bathtub with water as hot as they can stand it and put about a quarter of a cup of Epsom
salts in the water.\ \
Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate. In the presence of hot water, it dilates the vessels and tissues
that contain the lactic acid that\'92s producing the physical discomfort. The magnesium sulfate
binds to that lactic acid and pulls it into the bath water.\
\ As an alternative, if you don\'92t have a
bathtub, you can do the same thing with the moist heating pad. You can soak the pad in
a bowl of Epsom salts and hot water, heat the moist heating pad in the microwave, and
put it over the areas that are the most uncomfortable. \
\ Then of course, if you want to take something
orally, there are combinations of magnesium and calcium out there that are very effective
in terms of acting as a muscle relaxer. If you do choose to do that, you would want to
take, for instance, 250 to 500 milligrams of calcium combined with 500 to 1000 milligrams
of magnesium within 30 minutes before you go to bed.\

\cf0 The third recommendation is an over-the-counter nutrient which is a hormone precursor called
melatonin that helps to induce sleeps and helps to relax the muscles so that you can
get a good night\'92s sleep, get the sleep relatively quickly, and stay asleep most of
the night.}
