My name is Steve Nelke.
I'm the PGA Golf Professional here at Hangman Valley Golf Course in Spokane, Washington.
The golf course was established in 1969, owned and operated by Spokane
County Parks Rec and Golf Division. We've modernize the golf course with a
new irrigation system
and some new tees and some bunkering.
The golf course is really matured into a fine test of golf, enjoyable by all levels
of play.
We're spread out over 176 acres on land that used to
be a farm, still has that feel to it.
I think if you come out and play golf you'll enjoy it.
My name is Paul Rudge. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I love this course. I love the whole area up here.
Some of the best public courses in
the country are here in the Spokane area.
So whenever I come up I try
to get a round out here. What I really like a lot about Hangman is
the holes are fair.
You can play a number of tee boxes and still had a good shot and be rewarded for it.
The greens are really tough and you better know how to work your putter
and that's what's fun to be challenged on a course like this. The sand is always
in great shape although i don't like being in it.
I do enjoy this course quite a bit.
This 18th hole behind me is, like I said, an excellent finishing hole because it
crosses Latah Creek which comes into play out here
on 7 different holes. Why somebody would like to play Hangman is
basically the attitude of what you see is what you get
with maybe a couple of exceptions, you can see all the troubles in front of you
or to the side of you
and we do give you quite a bit of margins for error.
You can choose all kinds of different ways to get the ball toward your target;
hitting it along the ground or hitting it through the air.
You don't feel intimidated.
The trees are there but they're not
closing you in.
The greens are
fairly generous.
There's not a ton of slope to it.
There's some test to it.
If you can play golf, if you enjoy playing golf, you'll enjoy this golf course.
The driving range is a unique feature because it's an aquatic driving range.
When they started in '69-'70
there were not very many places like that.
The idea was that
you could put a water driving range in there which is a great features
but use it as the irrigation
holding tank
so that we get the water from there to irrigate the golf course
Also the great thing about water driving range is while you do use floater balls,
when you hit the ball you'll see where it lands. Sometimes it's very hard to pick
up on a normal driving range. What is unique about Hangman Valley golf course
is the fact that
even though we're only 20 minutes away from downtown Spokane,
we are out in the middle of a
farm area here. You don't have to worry about congestion of the city. You don't hear the cars.
You don't hear the roads.
It's very quiet, very peaceful.
That's probably the major reason why most people like to come out here and play.
My name is Georgia Crawford.
I've been coming to Hangman for about five years now.
One thing I really like about it
is that it's quite and peaceful. There's not a lot of cars flowing by.
It's just nice to get out and get away from it all.
I belong to the 18-hole ladies group and we really encourage people of all levels to join us.
We do a lot of fun things. In fact we do really well in all of our tournaments.
It's a great course to play.
I would personally like to invite you to come out and
play Hangman Valley golf course.
If you're in the area and i think if you come through,
you'd want to play it again
and you'd want to play it again.
We're rated 4 stars by Golf Digest which is a very tough rating to get.
So COME ON OUT! :)
