Kars4Kids Partners With Food Banks
A: All the drinks that you donate are made available, again, to all the
different programs, so we want to make sure that we have a variety,
something from all the different food groups. So, whether it's water or
sports drinks, we make it available to the families as well.
B: They take it from the menu, and then we pick it, and then it goes on to
our trucks. Then our trucks, they deliver the food to the agencies, and
then the agencies will distribute to whoever's in need. I used to be on the
other side. I used to get the food assistance, and I got laid off my job,
and I went back to school, and I didn't have the food bank for seven years.
Now, I'm giving back.
A: We're serving, right now, to Monmouth and Ocean County, one in ten
residents, so that's about 127,000 people that are accessing food through
one of our 260 programs in both counties. So, that's a big number, and it's
not hard to understand why this is the case. We've seen 84% more people in
the last five years. A lot of families are having a hard time making ends
meet.
C: I'd like to thank Kars4Kids for the 9,000 drinks. We go a long way with
what we do with the kids, and fill up what we do on a daily basis. I'd like
to thank them for the donation.
A: We've increased our distribution now, to 7.1 million pounds of food, and
we're doing more with that food. We're trying to make sure that it's as
nutritionally dense as possible, so out of that seven million pounds, 7.1
million, we distributed one million pounds of fresh produce. That's a
milestone for the food bank, and we're very happy to be able to provide
that for our residents. And of course, thank you to Kars4Kids for this
incredible donation, and for helping us spread the word about all the
neighbors in need throughout Monmouth and Ocean.
