[Intro music]
My friend Lee and I have a problem.
It's about where this world of ours is headed to.
I mean, what is going on with society?
With all the crazy and random things happening in the world today,
we are both convinced that we are in a big mess
that we have absolutely no hope of fixing for ourselves.
We have "passed the rubicon" and soon enough we will find ourselves
facing very tough decisions about where we have to go
and what we need to do next.
There are signs everywhere telling us to slow it down
or better yet, just stop with how we are doing things.
The Powers That Be don't give a rat's *** about anything
that happens to oppose their desire to grow and grow and grow some more.
It is only when a situation comes to a head that hindsight is
naturally present but more frustrating is that it is often too late.
The Law of Unintended Consequence has been let loose on what we have
built up and now it is doing what it does best.
If we grow up in a world that values status and power, there will always
be various influences making light work of convincing us
into following whatever means justify their own ends.
Those who fail to follow suit often fail in society.
It's a brutal mechanism.
Lee and I managed to pick this van up for a very modest amount indeed.
It was clear from the outset that it had obviously
outlived its usefulness.
Society reminds me of this van:
a risky, unreliable mess of parts that takes so much money and
resources just to keep it running.
Yet so many of us cannot disconnect from it - It has "defined" who we are
and it will still have many supporters even when it starts to
violently implode in on itself under the
sheer weight of its own complexity.
Me and Lee talk about this and for now that's all we can do.
But soon we know that many of us will be entering
a starkly different world from the one that we have just left behind.
